Hatchet tells a tale about our main character brian. Brian is flying in a plane to go visit his father because his parents divorced, however during the flight the pilot has a heart attack and dies. During the flight, the pilot tries to teach brian how to fly a bit before he dies. But as the plane goes down, brian made a life saving move and took control of the plane’s descent. After the plane crashes brian is left alone in the wilderness with only the hatchet his mother gave him as a present. Throughout the story we can see deep into brian's emotions and character development. We also get to see the ways he survives and what he has to do to stay alive.

Recommendation reasons:
Hatchet is a great book with descriptive scenes that make the reader be amazed. Brian is 13 and he survived in the wilderness for 54 days. That's not something an average 13 year old could do. A lot of the sections shows Brian using his brain and not choose dumb decisions like Mac in unbroken. Brian is rational, and resourceful, so he draws the attention of readers.Favorite parts:
Brian gets “attacked” by a porcupine during the night.Brian eats turtle eggs as food and berrys.Using a hatchet, Brain banged it against some rocks lighting a fire.Created on Sat Jul 22 2023
